I'm troubleshooting a problem with my car and going through all the TSBs. This TSB does not effect the ECU Part number from my car. I just thought someone might like to see this as others are having this problem

QUOTE (hmaservice TSB)
very infrequent minor engine stumble

description
Some 1998 Accent, Elantra and Tiburon vehicles may exhibit a very infrequent minor engine stumble sensation when driving at highway speeds. This condition is described by the following symptoms:
[*]The engine stumbles very briefly (lasting approximately one tenth of one second).
[*]Engine speed is above 2000 RPM.
[*]The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) / Check Engine Light goes on for one second and then goes off.
[*]No Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set.
[*]The condition occurs very infrequently.
NOTE The vehicle must exhibit ALL of the above symptoms.

Vehicles that may be affected are:
model | model year | production | date range
            Accent 1998 5/07/97 Through 6/22/98
            Elantra 1998 8/18/97 Through 7/27/98
            Tiburon 1998 8/18/97 Through 7/27/98

            repair procedure
If you encounter a vehicle with this condition, replace the engine control module (ECM) with the equivalent new part number (see below).

            Parts information
model | part name| part number previous| part number new
            1998 Accent (Cal Spec) ECM 39110-22375 39110-22379
            1998 Accent (Fed Spec) ECM 39110-22370 39110-22374
            1998 Elantra ECM 39110-23940 39110-23944
            1998 Tiburon ECM 39110-23930 39110-23934

I had to reformat it a bit because it won't direct copy.

Very interesting! My car does exhibit all these symptoms, yet it is a 2001 Tiburon. I think I must have caused it when I replaced the ECU from a 1998 Elantra 1.8L.

So note to those who have done a 1.8L ECU swap, either get the right part number ECU, or be prepared for this to happen. (Scares you pretty good the first few times, but then you get used to it. And it only does it every 10,000 miles or so, so it's not frequent at all.)

I've had this happen a few times to me, last time being probably 12,000 miles ago. Oh and it sure scared the crap outta me when it first happened. I was on I-84 in PA doing probably 80mph.

Also I'm pretty sure I got the right part number 1.8lECU that was listed here somewhere.
