Default ignition issues

Yesterday my wife's 99 Elantra threw up a CEL and started sputering. Even though we all diagnosed the problem as plug-wires my dealer ran the code anyway. Low and behold it said "missfire on number 4 Cyl" I had replaced the plugs on the car about a month ago. The wires at that time were in good shape and were left alone. Yester day when I replaced the wires the number 4 cyl wire hade a nice lightning strike pattern on the part that goes through the head. Obviously it was arking out.
Although my problem has been fixed I have a question. I seem to remeber that one cylinder over all others seems to have more problems in the Beta. Is that the general idea? Not that is any great concern for mr since I am neither heavily modifing my car or looking for force induction.

The "theory" so far has been that it is the #2 cylinder and #3 Cylinder that become starved for air due to the design of the intake manifold. However, I don't think we've had a sufficent quantity of engines die due to piston/cylinder related problems to truely call it a smoking gun.
