Look for any stampings on the block, or cast into the block.

The Beta2 has "XD" cast into the block. The Beta1 has "J2" cast into the block

Hey Random, on my 2001 tib, there was an "XD" stamped onto my exhaust manifold. Now, my tib is a beta 1 with the MAF and all, but that "XD" on the stock exhaust manifold kinda stuck in my head ever since I put my header put on. Any implications? Do any other tib owners have the same thing???
