Err... bad idea... the car needs that sensor, its very important. It tells the ECU what the temp is, so it can adjust fuel accordingly and other things as well. Not very smart to run a car without one.

It sounds like he got that kit to make the ecu think the engine is running colder than it already is so it gets more fuel.
Do yourself a favor and do not even bother. It is a scam. Our ECU already makes our engines run a little rich, making them run more so will just be a waste of fuel as we need to lean out a little bit to make Optimum power.

Yeah man, if you really got one of those, you should have looked here first.
Throw it away before you break something.
Think about it man.
This thing is supposed to "Trick" your ecu into thinking COLDER air is coming into the engine. This is "Supposed" to make your ECU give more fuel.
The air coming into the engine is still the same temp, so it's the same density, so now you have TOO MUCH FUEL in your engine.
Not good.

it actually does the opposite. it makes the ecu think that the incoming air is warmer. the ecu adjusts, and runs leaner. this normally would be good with our rich cars, but a linear decrease in resistance is NOT what you want. sure, at 3k it might make your car run a little less rich, but at 6k, it could make it lean out bad. you lean out at that engine speed for too long, and you could melt your pistons into golf balls.
this is why the S-afc and similiar items are made. so you can adjust the amount of incoming air your ecu sees all across the rpm range.
