I want 2 run 12's
I have an opp. to make about 6000 bux and i wanna know if i can get the tib into the 12's with that $ preferably witout Nitrous either all turbo boost.
The reason i ask is because if this isnt possible i may sell my tib and buy another FD

If I read you correctly, you want to make a 12s car with just turbo, no NO2?
If that's the case then I think you can do it, but it will take up that entire budget. You'll need a large turbo optimized for the higher rev range (a little slower spool, but won't top out on you). Count on new pistons, rods, a big-ass intercooler, and a new ECU. New injectors, upgraded fuel pump, a Quaffie differential (so you don't make clay out of the axels). This isn't a perfect list (search and ask and you can get a more complete one).
It will be interesting though. For reference, I'm trying to do a 6-8psi setup with the stock ECU for under $2000. That's with all the labor done by me. That should be good for 180 at the wheels, maybe a bit more.
good luck,
ac

i think it will cost you a little more than 6000.
in dyno tuning alone, it will cost you over $1000.
engine work costs lots of $$.
high quality engine parts cost even more..
porting the cyl head.
steel valves. stronger springs.. bigger cams..
ported intake manifold.. HUGE injectors.. monster fuel pump... stand alone ecu... suspension.. roll cage(this is not absolutely necessary, but when you go down the track once, they'll kick you out and never let you back in until you get a cage).. slicks... 3 puck clutch.. probly have to have the tranny re-inforced somehow.. i dont know what people do to the tranny parts... shotpeen all the gears maybe !@ hahaha
to tune a 400 hp 4 cyl engine properly requires LOTS of dyno time. and labor for EXPERIENCED tuners to tweak it just right.
sheesh.. i'm not done, but i'm too tired to type another word..

The question is.
#1. How much time do you have before this $6000 offer "expires"
#2. How far are you willing to go to commit to a 12 second car? (totally gut the interior?)
In reality...you'd end up spending close to $6000 (if not more) to make a 12 second tiburon, and in the end, it would, more than likely, not be street legal, and wouldn't be that fun to drive except in a straight line.
If you want a 12 second street car, go for a AWD import, or a RWD domestic or maybe a Supra. Trying to get a Honda hatchback into the 12's is not going to be easy, or cheap, and it still would not be that fun to drive on the streets.
If you REALLY want a 12 second tiburon, it's doable, but how much work are you willing/able to do yourself? That is what affects the cost the most.

ok well than ill have 2 start looking into another FD, it would probably be easier to get a 12 second tib if i were to make the engine strong and put a turbo on it 2 bring it say into the 13's and just do the rest with NO2 @ the track
to go 13's you'll still need an super strong engine.
no less than i beam rods, forged pistons, copper headgasket.. maybe just o-ring the block/head for a total seal.. cams, ported head, adjustable cam sprocket for the tuning of the cam timing... hi po ignition system (msd dis2) .. stage 4 clutch 4 puck.. slicks, tighter suspension in the front /rear ... man.. no less than 20 psi of boost.. also, the crank/rods/pistons MUST be professionally balanced by an experienced machine shop before you dare to put it through 20psi and lets say.. 75 HP nitrous ... (you will not need a progressive controller since its a small amount of spray)...
solid motormounts.. i dont even know if the stock axles can handle that kind of power...
sheesh... i'm too tired to type.. i need some nitrous for my fingers . . haha smile.gif
