Swap to a 2.0
Medium size turbo... T3/T4 hybrid or GT28xx $450-1000
Head porting $400
Bigger turbo cams $600
Hand bend manifold $1000
Larger injectors... 750 cc $800
Large Front mount intercooler $1000
Large in line fuel pump $150
Haltech or Motec ECU $1500-$3000
Air filer $50
Turbo piping $300
Exhaust $500
Forged Pistons $700
Forged Rods $700

HKS twin plate or OS Geiken twin plate clutch $1000

Misc connectors / clamps / plugs / oil $300

ECU tuning.. tuner and dyno time $1000

There... $10K plus.. just like Random said.

This setup will get you around 350 - 400 RWHP.
With no weight reduction, this should get you into the high 12's with a good launch.. and good shifting. It should be very street worthy and very SCARY on the highway.
With the rear seat / passenger seat / spare tire / jack / carpet / air conditioner / power steering removed... maybe low 12's.

You will most likely need a bit more power because it looks like the tracks are similar to Korea... NO Stickum at the line.

With 400-500 hp and 500lbs less weight, Could it still be road worthy?
Depends on your definition of *road worthy*. It would still be drivable, yes. If you did say 300 HP with a turbo, and 200 with Nitrous, it would stay docile enough to be road drivable.

What clutch could handle such power?
HKS twin plate. About $1200

Should I get a Coupe to modify instead of my Elantra? Hey, the car would be very heavy with two engines!
The AWD of 2 engines would more than offset the fact that you have more weight. Coupe would be easier to fit in the second engine. The 2 engine tiburon did the 1320 in 10.96 on a crappy, hot drag strip, on ordinary tires. That is with about 310 HP to each engine. with 250 HP to each engine, you should be able to do 12's.

It's almost all about weight reduction...the lates SCC they stripped a Sentra down to bad, but got it under 2000 lbs, and the stock engine was running 0-60 in the 5 sec area, and the 1/4 in the 12-13 sec range...funny as hell article too.

Sorry, time to go back to reading comprehension class. The car was a 2001 Nissan Sentra SE. It did a 16.3 stock (2763 lbs weight), after stripping the car down to the bare frame, cutting off the roof, removing fenders, hood, doors trunk, and cutting off the rear of the car after the rear wheels, they only got it down to 14.3 and 1674 lbs
60ft times from 2.9 to 2.6
0-60 from 8.6 to 5.8

They lost over 1000lbs and gained only 2 seconds.

The article was funny, but not the least bit informative or useful. They wasted a car in the process and wasted 8 pages of magazine print on a utterl worthless article that has no basis in fact/reality.

I saw them do the same thing with an Accord took 150hp/150torque engine at 2700pounds and 16.3 1/4 miles to a 14.2 1/4.

yeah they ruined a perfectly good car.

It wasn't completely worthless. It gives you a good idea of how power to weight works.

Besides, maybe someone wans to race thier tiburon in the midget class. heh

Anything would react better to weight reduction...
