Went flash flood around my town tonight went through what I thought was a long puddle... ended up being about 3-4inches of standing water.... car shuts off and I don't know what to do... yes I have an AEM cold air intake. (wich was soaking wet to the touch) took off the intake at the TB and that was alittle wet too on the inside... what do I do please help. 02.gif

 

did you try to start the car again?

 

to ensure there is no water inside the engine you can turn out all spark plugs ant crank few times the engine. Then put plugs back and try to start the engine.

 

no the engine wouldn't turn over.... turn out the spark plugs? you mean pull them out?

 

^^ yes thats probably what he means.

 

1. take out all spark plugs.

2. get something to suck out any water, or crank engine just a couple times and watch water shoot out of sparkplug holes.

3. change oil

 

^do exactly like Tibby says, try to get ahold of a shop vac to get the water out. If you don't have one, you can probably get one for cheap at WalMart and then return it when your done.

 

if you ever go through lots of water always have your hand on the key and ready to kill it, when my revs went down a little i shut the engine off and it saved me from hydrolocking

 

Unfortunately if you tried cranking it after sucking in all the water, the damage is already done (if there is damage). At this point just follow the above advice and cross your fingers. happysad.gif

 

Unfortunately, there's a good chance that your engine is waisted. I'd call your insurance company ASAP if it covers this type of damage.
