it's a while that i'm looking at this OBDII reader on ebay and i'd like to know if there is someone here who can give me more infor about.

the item is like this:OBD2

and everyone (every seller) say that it can read the error code when you get a CEL, and after the 5th time it is capable of turn the light off...

this sounds an easy way to avoid going to hyundai's dealer when or if a CEL appear during operations like dash removal or similar..

what do you think ?

 

Most every obd2 scantool should be able to check CEL and erase them, so there's nothing special with this one.

This one is cheap, though, and doesn't need a laptop, so if all you want to do is check and erase codes, it's all good. I find an odb2 scantool to be much mure useful when using it's data log capability, tough.

BTW, the error you usually get in removing the dash (or cluster) is an airbag error; you CAN'T reset an airbag error light with most scantools (except profesionnal ones, which knows how to talk to the airbag module, which is specific to each car make and/or car).

 

Looks decent although very basic. Should work fine for our cars as they use the ISO protocol which is supported by this tool.

i'm close to remove everything (the dash) in these days, because here it's so hot that a light on the back of my dash is popped out and i found the little halogen light on the floor mat sad.gif (the luggage light)

that's why i'm really scared to get some CEL or the air bag light come on ...

with webtech being able to look up any code, this will really come in handy.

 

i dunno, i always thought you cured a CEL by pulling the bulb that lights it up? or maybe some electrical tape over it?
