How effective is cold air intake on a Tiburon FX
#1
I got my 97 Tiburon fixed
:?: I have a 97 Tiburon FX 5 speed and I was thinking of putting a CAI into it. I was wondering if you guys know the HP gains, if any, on the tiburons with CAI. Also what brand of CAI is the best. i was gonna buy the AEM CAI but I found a shark racing one that is alot cheaper. Is there a big difference in between the two? Do I need a bypass valve on my CAI?

If your N/A
Id go with the carbonfibre air intake from Performance styling centre
it's wider than the stock and allows cooler air into the ducting,
If its for show it don't realy matter, i don't think you would gain much from a cai except for a different sound.
A bypass is a good idea if it rains alot and you drive through puddles.(for safety)but not necessary.
Welcome to the boards man.

There isn't a sharkracing one for your car yet. They have been trying to make one for over a year now but always have troubles with the factory. Get the AEM if you get one, I just ordered one.

If you do not plan to show your car, get the "True CAI" from SSAutochrome on ebay. You can get it for $50-60 and it is IDENTICAL to the AEM, other than an extra cut and connector. It is what I have, and DEFINATELY worth it! It looks great, but if you go to shows, they are looking for brand names. Look in the image gallery for some pictures.

Joe, MourningStar over at HP.com, mentioned that my CAI is the loudest he has ever heard.. It is a custom one from Canada.. you see them on eBay every so often. Nice three inch pipe that runs down into the fender where the battery usually sits. Definatly will wake up the neighbors if you floor it above 4 grand.
