is that the bottleneck you're talking about? because those look like they're wonderful compared to the rest. The problem is that it costs $165 from summitracing.com. It does not have a heat shield. and a catco costs $34 from ebay.

01roller thanks for clearing up the difference between OEM vs. High Flow.

 

HyundaiKitCoupe - Catco and Magnaflow cats are the same thing. I have one and it looks almost the same as the stock one, but with a wider openings.

CyberShark - My car was bought new in New Jersey and I have 2 cats. One is right after the exhuast manifold and the other is under the car right after the flex pipe.

 

Mine was sold in VA (no emissions testing whatsoever in my part of VA) and I have two cats.

Get under your car and see how many you have HKC. tongue.gif Not too hard, should be right off the stock downpipe if you have one. If not, thats where one should go. laugh.gif

 

Your cars have Cali emissions. For some reason, they were sold in other states besides Cailfornia. My car came with only one cat.

 

Dealers do sometimes trade cars, for instance if a person wants it in red and they don't have it, they'll trade one of their colors for another dealer's. However, I don't see them trading across the U.S since im in VA.

That does confuzzle me. :unsure:

 

It is kinda wierd, a friend of mine bought his Elantra in Hawaii and it had Cali emissions as well as a member who bought a Tib in Texas that was cali equiped.

 

It's gotta be a fairly large one. The stock cat is restrictive in itself, then it's thrown into a 90 degree bend, then through the exhaust.



True, but there would be no sense putting it back in that spot. Getting rid of that 90 degree bend is what is so nice about getting set of headers with a downpipe and a high flow cat. Just my opinion.

i checked under the car and i have only one cat which is located right under the stock headers covered up by a heat shield.

howcome magnaflow cats are like $100 more expensive than catco?

maybe later generation tiburons have two cats. it probably depends on the production months. in any case, i'm not trying to spend $165 on a dumb cat.


i found this bosal cat. does anybody know if these version cats work well? they seem to be better for fitting underneath the car.

here is one from BOMZ which looks to be something suited more for underneath the car and it's $70 instead of dynatech's $170.

 

honestly after the headers is where the cat is suppose to go. all car manufactures put one there for a reason.

 

o i must have 2 then because i know i have one under the car but thought that thing after the header was a heat shield when i first looked at it
