Ok. I was pulling out just now and I noticed that I barely had any power and then BOOM nothing. The clutch went to the floor. There was a bad smell coming from everywhere, no smoke, and the clutch was bouncing off the floor. I can barely pull out and it's making a really loud noise. It can't be the clutch because it was just replaced not too long ago. So what could this be? Please give me some information on how I can fix it and how much it will cost?

NEED ADVICE REAL FAST! ASAP?! Thanks.

Justin, I realize you are new here, but Lee (UrSONvS) just went through and edited your whole post for readability. Please use the ENTER and PERIOD key when you type, lots of our members won't even finish reading a post if it's written like yours was, difficult to read. Once they don't read it, they never will.

BTW, if you just replaced your clutch, why COULDN'T it be the clutch?

Hell, it would be the first thing I'd suspect. Everything you said sounds based around your tranny.

Did it actually go BOOM, or did it just do nothing? How fast were you going?

^^^ Agreed; personally I got to about the bad smell part before I decided that I didn't care enough to decipher what you were saying.

sorry but it could be your clutch. it very well may have been an airbubble in your line cause it to do that.
or..
it couldve been your throw out bearing wasnt cmpletely seated in place when you reinstalled your clutch an the noise you hear was it popping out an the smell be your clutch slipping an burning.

or.....
based on the general info you gave......... maybe your car sux at life an decided to jump timing an you bent a valve an now its burning oil an losing compression like mad.

or

mabe its oughta oil an you pistons are starting to seize?

From your generic discription these are all very plausible explanations, but im bettin on clutch.

That happened to me once. That's the throwout bearing, or the release lever pin came out. Probly the throwout bearing... rotate the lever until it's clicked back into place.

You tell your mechanic that he should go back to school. Then walk out to your car, locate the release lever, rotate it towards the back of the car, get in and drive off.

This has nothing to do with the tranny being shot. This is all clutch.

also, check to see if there's a washer under the nut on top of the release lever. That washer takes up space and removes free-play from the throwout bearing's release forks, keeps it in place, and makes it less likely to slip out.

I'm not able to provide much help, but I'm guessing Justin is relatively new to trannies.

can DTN or somebody else give him more direction on the lever? It's located on top of the transmission, should be able to move it with your fingers, push it back towards the firewall I think?

It's located right here (green)

It looks like this

rotate it towards the firewall

Shifting, grinding, rattling, whirring, thumping, no power, those are all transmission issues.

Clutch issues are odd smells, slipping, bearing noises, thumping or thudding and clutch pedal issues. Unless your clutch exploded and sent fragments through the bell housing, you don't need a new transmission, you just need to adjust your clutch.
