Default headers question

Ok so awhile back I bout the Obx headers had them professionally installed/fitted. For quite some time I've been running into issue after issue with this car i was told that with the header installed the backpressure could be whats causing alot of my problems. Can the Obx header really f**k my car up like this?

Hardly doubt the header would be the issue. Alot of people have used the OBX without any issues at all.

Do you have a CEL on? What kind of exhaust piping and muffler do you have on the car? You say you've been having alot of issues...can you explain what they are?

I'm not sure what CEL stands for The car doesn't accelerate like it should it spits and sputters and every other week there is something new that needs to be replaced on it I've replaces the Cam position sensor fuel ump the entire head plugs and wires a few times alternator 2 times now replaced the rack power steering pump water pump and the fuel rail and injectors we attempted to clean out the mafs and it seemed to help a little bit for a little while but still resulted the same I have a CAI the filter is kept clean all the time I love the car to death but all this happened in less then a year and with under 100000 miles on the engine. My main problem lies on the acceleration as far as my exhaust I have the OBX header and flex pipe stock exhaust to a muffler I got from a friend I've had the same kind of muffler on other cars no problems the newest things i need to get replaced are driver side wheel bearing I'm thinking a new MAFS and that's all I know of atm WOOHOO! I'd like to get a dual muffler like for the Dodge Neons but I don't know I really like how my setup sounds now smile.gif

CEL = Check Engine Light

If you're using a head with the stock piping...thats problem #1. The stock piping is pretty small in diameter and that could be the problem. With a header, you want 2.5" diameter piping from the cat back. Any muffler shop can crush bend you a set of pipes and install it.

If its not accelerating, it could also be your catalytic converter, among other things. If its clogged, you'll get those issues you were having. This may or may not be whats causing it.

When you installed the header, where did you install the 02 sensor that was on the 1st cat on the stock manifold. Since the header will replace the manifold and first cat, the 02 sensor will have to be plugged in with the wires extended and a bung would have had to be welded in so it could be attached by the 2nd cat. Did any of that happen? If not, you should be throwing a CEL and a code should be popping up when a scanner is plugged into the OBD port.

Have you had the compression checked also? Curious to see if you're losing compression at idle or WOT.

No. Stock piping will not make the engine run like poo, it will just not allow maximum gains.

Get the code read. Any chain auto parts store in the USA will do this for you free of charge. Then report the code back to us. Replacing parts without knowing why is a good way to waste money.
