Are head gasket spacers good to have on boosted engines, in order to aid in lowering compression? I know you dont want them as the sole item to lower compression (better to get pistons for that), but I was curious if they are worth using along with pistons or not at all.

 

Depends on the boost setup you intend on running. From what I've read on these forums, the stock engine (properly maintained and in decent condition) will run anywhere from 8-12psi of boost without issue. Those who use decompression plates in order to lower the compression ratio do it when they try to run beyond that (say in the 20psi range). I did the complete opposite to my car and shaved the head down for higher compression, but I'm not running on a boosted setup, so you'll want to rely on the word of members who are personally familiar with it.

a SET of CP, or WEISCO'S will out perform that "Spacer" any day of the week, and be more reliable than adding another gasket to blow out, when running your 20 psi of boost!!!



I would love to see a car with internals running a spacer run 20psi. That would be good...

 

lol my accent ran 22psi with a copper deco head gasket and combustion chamber o-ringing, got 230hp on that setup, saying that it wasn't reliable in any shape or form lol. his is in my 1.6l accent btw.
