so i was changing the oil and i went to put the new filter on and i stripped the whole nut thingy on the oil pump. so i took it off and noticed that the oil filter was threaded wrong. do i have to buy a whole new oil pump thing or can i replace just that one piece that the oil filter screws onto?

Sorry buddy, but your going to end up replacing that pump.
Now, are you sure you messed up the thread on the pump? That seems pretty hard to me. Go get the right filter and try putting it on. I would think you would mess up the threads on your filter long before the ones on the pump.
If you did mess up the threads on the pump it wouldn't be all that great of an idea rethreading it since it's something that gets removed and replaced constantly I would think.

There has to be an easier/cheaper fix. Hopefully others will chime in soon on this. If it's just a 1/4 of the threads I take back what I said about rethreading it, give it a shot... although getting to it to rethread would be a b!tch.

I vote to try a rethread. The filter already sits crooked right? It's not like it will make it worse. The worst thing that will happen is that it won't work and you'll have to by a new oil pump, but you are already there...so why not give it a shot????
