anything blocking the air path will cause restriction... you decrease the volume of that section of pipe when you stick something in there.
But I'm sure it's good for making the exhaust quieter. Thanks, i think i'll get one so I don't attract cops' attention on the streets.

Where you goin for this?? and If you don't want/care for performance gains "persay", just get a high flow muffler and save some money.
There's a place here in Ajax that does very good work on exhausts you could check out. Cheap too
