Genesis headers with stock exhaust piping
Would it be a bad idea to put on headers (3.8 Genesis) with the stock piping, and a megan racing axle back muffler?

Are you planning on getting a better pipe in between them at some point? I would save for that as an entire system. Cut down on labor costs of installing it unless the headers are bolt on to the stock system.

Headers on the 3.8 are a PITA to install from what I hear. Just do it all at once. If having a shop do it, have them weld custom piping on there from the headers back and be done. Probably the same price to do custom header-back exhaust at a shop as it is to buy Megan Racing axle-back.
Which headers are you looking to buy? I'm assuming ARK. If so, may be best to go custom anyways, some have fitment issues.
