some of u might know that ive had 2 elantras and finally have a 1.8L tib. Anyway, ive notice the Tibs gear ratio is a lot closer together. 3rd gear redlines at 80 as opposed to 90 in the 2.0 elantra. And 4th is about 105 in tib and ive never redlined it in elantra in 4th. So, are the trannys different? the 2.0 would be better for turbo applications.

the 1.8, and 2.0, and beta2 tibbys all have slightly different gearing, as does the 1.8. 2.0, and beta 2 elantras. none are the best gearing, to get the perfect set up depends on your motor set up, if its n/a, or boosted, and if boosted, exactly where your power range is from.
the best gearing would of course be in a beta2 trans casing using mostly 1.8 tib parts for my set up. but ill just be lazy and run the basic beta2 cause im too poor, and WAY to lazy to buil the trans up myself. ill build a motor no problem, but manual trannies still scare the shit out of me.
