Gear Oil
Well i changed my (manual) transmission oil tonight. I replaced it with 2 litres of Redline MT90, and then topped it up with Lucas Oil Stabilizer. I can't believe how much better the shifting feels compared to before. Great buy! fing02.gif
Tip: Add the Oil stabilizer first otherwise it's pretty hard to tell when it's full. I had to drive around a couple of times so the oil would mix with LOS and get warm so it would actually run out so i could tell if it was full.
2 Quarts of MT90, and about 1/3 bottle of LOS seemed to fill it nicely.
One question though, does it matter if i check the level when it is warm or cold????

You only need 2.2 quarts I believe. Don't overfill it. Just keep pouring until it wants to come back out the hole (while your car is somewhat level).
I normally put in 1.5 Redline and the rest with L.O.S.

Scratch what I said. I actually started using Pennzoil Syncromesh with a little Lucas Oil Stabalizer. It's in a yellow bottle.
But that link above is pretty interesting.

It's very interesting. It seems to suggest that if you are using a good, properly formulated oil to start, adding a stabilizer is unnecessary and may not help, but instead can actually hurt the oil's performance, since it thins the original oil and the anti-foaming agents can no longer work as they should.
I'm using 20% Lucas. I plan to drain my gear oil after a long drive sometime and see how it looks. If there is air trapped, that would be a bad thing indeed. But I have my doubts as to how the tests in the above link translate to the conditions in our transmissions.
