Fuel Pressure regulator

How mutch can the stock one handle. I read on a post somewhere that if you remove the hose that links it to the IM, it'll read 0psi and run the pump at full volley. Any gains from this is this a no-no?

with the vaccuum line disconnected it will produce approx 55-60 psi. this is maximum fuel pressure the pump will produce.
