The difference is that we like to have educated users who know how to read rules. If your talking in first person we assume its about your car. IT all boils down to not having to scroll from here to the moon to read a response.

Now take some of that new found education skills, find the TSB, print it out and go educate your dealer.

I want to know if the dealer can replace it for free if the produced date is late than 1/31/2002?

Wow, just saw this. I've had a cracked manifold forever on my 2001 Tiburon. I guess I'll call the dealer and ask. Can't imagine they would do it since I'm WAY outside of warranty period though...

Should be free still. I'd call your local dealer to confirm. There was a worry about O2 sensor that may get stuck and its an easy excuse for the shop to STILL charge you. If they will replace the manifold, I would go and bust the O2 sensor loose, retorque to spec, and then if they try to pull that sh*t on you you can raise the BS flag in their face!

its a tsb not a recall so they may decline you. still worth a shot though

If your car is covered by the TSB, my understanding is that it's covered forever. I asked the dealership service guy what happens when it cracks again, and he said bring it back again. If HMA is providing the part and reimbursing for the time, there is no reason your dealer shouldn't do it for you. The feds say catalytic converters are NEVER supposed to fail by breaking open and the manifold IS the housing for the converter in this case so they have to fix it.



Yes, soak your O2 sensor in penetrating oil and then pre-loosen it to be sure they will not be billing you for a "stuck" sensor.

I just came from the Hyundai dealer who told me that the campaign was performed in 2005 and that they will only do it once.



I just bought the car two weeks ago and can't get it registered because the manifold is cracked.



Does Hyundai not have to replace it again if it cracks again?



If they do have to, how do I get them to do it?

call a different dealer. Mine told me they'd do it again forever.



ETA some dealer shops are full of jerks and they don't want to do unprofitable warranty work, is why. I wouldn't be satisfied with this answer until I see an official bulletin from Hyundai USA that it's a one-time-only deal.
