i was wondering if someone can tell me how important the flex pipe actually is. my flex pipe right now, the metal mesh that goes around it is pretty worn out. you can spin the mesh part around. but the actual pipe is ok, no hole or busted or anything. now could this mesh part being gone, would that cause any kind of damage?i heard you can blow seals and also you can have back pressure if your pipe is busted. but mine is just the mesh part. thanks.

Well the "mesh" part is what makes it a flex pipe, during driving it moves around to keep you from beating up your header.

Its not going to blow seals or anything, but the header itself is going to hit on the motor and put alot of stress on the studs. If you drive it extremely easy it wouldn't cause damage, I would get it replaced though.

Even though it spins it might still be working, dislocate the exhaust right after it and pull on the piping a bit and see how the flexpipe works, you should be able to stretch it and move it up and down.
