Flex-a-lite Install
you just extended the wires into the sockets?
that is not a good connection at all. you will have to strip both wire ends, solder them together, and then insulate(heat shrink or electric tape). there is a good amount of current in those wires and having a weak connection will not let it pass.

Ok, one fan works!! That's progress. Thanks tibby01. The one that works is directly stripped and connected without any extension. I will also buy some heat wrap from home depot. I will have pics for anybody who wishes to see this.
The other fan however does not react to any extension. I've tried connecting them very tightly but not soldering them yet. The fan that is on the header side does not seem to budge at all and I know it's getting voltage because there's a spark in the wire when I touched it to the header. I hope it's not a faulty unit. Is there a way to test the fan using the battery?

Sorry to steal the thread, but i just have a quick question. Ok, well i don't have A/C so therefore i don't have an A/C fan. I only have one fan on the driver's side. It only goes on when the engine reaches a certain temperature. Would it be better if the fan was always on?? If so how would i bypass the sensor and get it to constanly be on? I'm guessing i could just hook it up to a power source (eg. battery). Just thought i'd ask. Let me know how you like your fans when they get working. I'd like to get some too. fing02.gif
the thermostat wont be open, so there is no point in having the fan on. it is only wasting electricity trying to cool coolant that hasnt even been in the engine yet.
keep it the way it is. you only create potential problems by having manual control of your fan.

hmm, i think you can buy a thermostat seperately from flex-a-lite, actually it's in the directions i have and i think a part number to go with it. apparently, it's a seperate sensor that attaches on the inside of the radiator hose and wires run into a seperate control box (variable speed control?) of some sort you also have to order. but the installation looks very very intimidatingly complicated and that's probably a bunch of money.
tibby01 is right, keep it the way it is. (<--that guy is rd's electrician hail.gif)
^...wanna put up my christmas lights this year??? pretty please?

Thanks for the DIY Tiburonmoo, this morning I got up early and managed to fit the fans in without actually unplugging any radiator hoses or anything. All I did was remove my intake for a bit and just slid the fans into the radiator. It's a near perfect fit, about 1cm off the bottom so it's slanted. But the mounting is impossible without taking out the radiator, so I just mounted the two tops bolts and the rest was supported by the bottom.
Hence, why I wrote up the DIY the way I did... so you could mount it PROPERLY. Plus, I'm one of those while I'm here I might as well... type people which is why I replaced my hoses and the antifreeze. cool.gif

I finally found out what the toxic smell was that was poisoning me and my passengers. Whenever I opened up the heat, there was a nasty gas smell inside the cabin. My GT Headers are propped up against the fan frame, melting it, and all of the nasty stuff is seeping through the flange crack.
This is proof, if buying Kspec's GT Headers, be prepared to order slim fans along with them.

So I bought some Flex-a-lite 220's. I really need help with the install. The directions are kind of complicated since they're built for universal use. Does anybody have these installed on their tibs? It have me a bunch of wires and some screws and I have absolutely no idea what the hell to do.
If anybody can help me, or send me pics of install, please do. I didn't realize this whole 4 months of driving I could have been poisoned.
