Fast,Shark's Setup....Thoughts
I tried to jump into Deckers post on HP gain...but kinda got lost in the shuffle.
My question: With the below mods, what HP "should" my 2nd Tiburon be at:
BIM
BTB
2.5" Exhaust
4-1 Headers
Apexi N1 Exhaust
1.8 semi-high (Elantra) cam
Kore Plugs
NGK V plugs
High Flow CAT
CAI (In Fender wall, minus driver side fog light) wink.gif
Stock should be around 140HP correct? So that above mods should produce around 25-35HP increase...if im reading correctly. So I "should" be at/around 165-75HP. Does this sound about right? Now, seeing my engine mod list...what else could be done? I'm assuming that nos/zex or underdrive pullies would be my only other two items to do prior to any setup other than N/A....correct?
Thanks

well, (correct me if i'm wrong) our beta engine produces a maximum of 140hp. Our actual whp or (hp at the wheels) is actually more like 110hp(if we dynoed it stock). This is due to restricitions like
1.intake restrictions for noise
2.exhaust restrictions for emmisions
3.a/c stealing power etc.
so since non of these mods will actually create horsepower, your looking at just restoring your lost power. Probably around 20-30hp to the wheels and possibly a few more. But to actually go way beyond 140hp stock, you need forced induction (supercharger, turbo, and NOS).
I do remember Random saying something about N/A tiburons in Korea with 190hp but I have no clue how they got there.
oh, and get the 2.0L Beta-II GT cam from the new elantra, its got more HP gain than the 1.8L. (ie more lift and duration)

Will I notice a difference from the Elantra 1.8 semi-high cam..(I just installed a few months ago) to the NEW Elantra Beta II? Gimme url for it. And $$$ if it's known. So, Zex would be my next step? Or would it be a good idea to look into having a local performance shop make me a front mount CAI or Intercooled setup?
Thanks
So what else can be doen to get rid of those damn restrictions? wink.gif And HOW IN THE heck can you pull 190HP outta a N/A 2nd Gen tibby? Time to do a little searchin'...

Bone stock you should have Dyno'ed out at between 110 and 125.
now you should be between 130 and 160
[EDIT: for a 5-speed]
