Default Fake catalitic converter?

I recently won this auciton on ebay and received the cat today
Highflow cat

Upon opening it up, i see that it looks just like the picture, but instead of the honeycomb inside the cat like i expect, it looks like the inside of a resonator. (straight through design with perforated walls). Now WTF. Before i go bitching at this guy, am i correct to assume that this isn't a highflow cat? but just a shiney resonator?

Probably so.

The picture they have there looks like a resonator.

uh, that doesn't look like any cat i've ever seen. decker, i can't believe you bought that it was a cat. btw, what's the prob? so, it's not a cat. GREAT!!! you don't have a cat. maybe i'm stupid, but i don't see the prob in that, unless you live in a state where you need to have your emissions verified.

That is decidedly resonator-looking and decidedly non-catalytic converter-looking.
But now you have a nice resonator... I don't see it being a big deal.
I don't know if it's the seller being scam artist or just plain ignorant and having no idea what the hell they sell.

I have seen a cat that looks like that in a perf. shop here. Don't know the effectiveness of it though.

it's not a resonator. it's a flex pipe.

the funny thing is that i searched for it online and found several other sites selling it. And the dealer had a very good rating. oh well i'll try and return it, otherwise, it may be a tad better than a
chopped piece of aluminium pipe instead of a cat. (if i'm going straight through might as well make it all stainless.)
