Exhaust system
I'm looking for a full header/exhaust system that I can install myself w/o welding, etc. Just a bolt bolt go type of deal for my tib. Someone told me that the 4-2-1 headers from SR wont directly work with my stock exhaut, I'd have to cut some tubing off somewhere. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!
So far as I know, there isn't a single header/exhaust package available for the North American Tiburons/Elantras where you do NOT have to modify anything. The problem is with our catalytic converters.
Hyundai placed the catalyst actually in the engine bay, right under the exhaust manifold (or actually the same part AS the exhaust manifold in newer models). This location is not the same on other Tiburons/Elantras shipped to other continents. Thus, since probably every header built for this car is sourced from Korea, Australia or England we cannot just bolt-and-go.
You will have to buy your header, buy your favorite cat-back (or have one built), and then have a good muffler shop cut and weld in a catalyst and an O2 sensor bung downstream of the new cat.
Sucks to be us!

What a break off. In truth if I have to go that route, I'd like something silent but deadly. I don't like big sound as much as I like big performance. I'd rather it sound like a porche than a go cart. Any suggestion on a high performance/low sound exhaust? The end result is to try and keep stock apperence/sound, but tear off like a bat outta hell!
