Default exhaust cut-out

Can an exhaust cut out be installed in a 4 cyl. car, lets say a Hyundai Tiburon? I like a loud nice sounding exhaust and I like the quiet ride of the stock exhaust. I want the best of both worlds, I want to be able to control the volume of the exhaust

here is an example of what I am talking about

CAST-IRON EXHAUST CUTOUT
Dash control increases power, adjusts tone while you drive
You two exhaust systems in one: (1) CLOSED QUIET EXHAUST for city and restricted areas; (2) WIDE-OPEN EXHAUST system for the open road and country driving when you want more speed, more power and gas economy. Made of cast iron. Requires welding. Mounts behind catalytic converter where applicable. With 5-ft. dash-control cable. Fits pipe 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" Note: Check local emission laws before ordering.

yes
I have been considering adding a piece like that on my exhaust system, but the ones I have seen are not remote controlled like that one. Not cast iron either. On the ones I have seen, you have to unscrew a little plate that seals one side to totally open it wide.

Where? Who makes that one?

BOOM! wink

The exhaust cut out shown above is avaliable through JC Whitney. Wow Wee! I want the QTEC exhaust cut out...... the one in JC Whitney is not electric like the QTEC one. What is the size of the stock exhaust?

yeah, the qtec is much nicer, from what i've seen. if you're gonna do it, do it right. i believe the qtec is stainless steel, as opposed to cast iron, and it's controlled via an electric motor, with a toggle switch mounted somewhere inside the car. the ars, it's not necessarily about racing. if you're into the thrill of driving your own car, then this would be for you. some people just enjoy DRIVING their cars, not racing them. though someone's car may not be very fast, it can still be fun to drive, and this is a toy for that person. smile.gif
