I'm going to stop by AutoZone on the way to work and see if they have one.

my radiator cap didn't come out. I'll go take another picture.

pics are loading...

The guy who flushed my radiator for me said that he removed t-stat, ran water through top hose, bottom hose, and radiator and all came out pretty clean. He wasn't able to get resevior clean, still had brown coating in it.

I have to go to work. I'll check forums when I get home at about 2a.m. CST (midnight on west coast).

I'll grab radiator cap on my way to work... but might take a day or two before I see a difference (unless it overheats on the way to work).

ok the pics of the cap really couldint tell me anything.. i guess i need to see it in person.

The pics of the reserve did tell me two things

1) You do have traces of oil... although not much at all.. I would expect A LOT more from a warped head.
How long ago did you have all the coolant replaced?

2) I also noticed you have a dead ant in there... wink1.gif

Try the cap man

ill try a chop the picture up here at work so you can know what im talking about

YOUR OVERHEATING CAUSE YOU HAVE FIRE ANTS IN YOUR ENGINE!

Ok this picture shows traces of some kind of oil...

Doesnt look like much though.. i couldint see it in other areas.. could be the lighting...
but still..

could the traces of oil be from a head gasket? I changed coolant last Thursday night, so less than a week old.

Replaced radiator cap... we'll see what happens.

I had also just added water to the coolant 10 minutes before I took that picture. About 5-8 ounces of water. Could it be the 2 mixing causing that? I'll take another pic tomorrow

Hyundai head gaskets are very strong..

A blown headgasket is very possible...

We wont know if its the headgasket or a warped head until you pull them apart and have them checked.

It possibly could be the fact that you added water, i really wouldint be able to tell you since the lighting isnt that great in the picture.

I would need to see the water from a glare

Either way.. im still worried about the fact that your reserve hasnt filled up, or bubbled from the overheating.

If it is oil... it would be coming from the head. Either warped head or bad head gasket.

There is always the chance that if he blew the head gasket, he is simply steam cleaning one of his cylinders.

I understand, thats why i asked him to check the exhaust to see if it smelled sweet.

Fortunately its not.. so chances of it being the head are unlikely... but the fact that he did have traces of oil after barely switching coolant worries me.

If hes not smelling coolant in the engine bay, or the exhaust,... the only thing i can think of is the cap.
