About a week ago my tib began to act funny. It would spit and sputter at low rpm ranges and wouldn't idle. I figured it had to be a fuel delivery problem or spark. So i changed my fuel filter replaced plugs, checked wires, and put some injector cleaner in. That fixed the low rpm problem. It now runs perfect at low rpm's and idles fine at 800-1000rpm. The problem i have is that when i accelerate the car bogs down at 2,000-3,500rpm and then takes off again at about 4,000rpm. Simply put, the car acts like it has a powerband. I don't think its a fuel delivery problem because at higher rpms it accelerates fine. My mods include: a cat back exhaust, AEM CAI (which is cleaned) and 4-2-1 headers. Could my O2 sensors be going bad? Or is it a spark/fuel problem? I know you guys can figure help me figure this out and I have searched a lot, but my specific problem is kinda hard to pinpoint by searching. Thanks.

sounds like maf problem lol. just make sure its in right. o2 sensor would normally through a code. check your air filter. could be plugs. pull them and see what they look like.

If there are no codes (CEL) your shooting in the dark.

Give us some more info. Mileage? Codes? any thing other than filter and plugs done lately?

Try some fuel injector cleaner, better yet a fuel system cleaner; make sure its ok for 02 sensors. Injectors might be spraying irregularly on low RPMs.

have you tried resetting the ECU? Let it start over electronically.

if you still have the problem and no codes id do a compression test, wouldnt answer why hi rpm is better but it woudnt hurt.

hey guys i don't know if this has anything to do with it but it's very important and might help. i had the very same problem driving my dad's elantra in florida. it would just splutter in certain gears and the CEL would come on and off.

so i went to these florida tech wizards. if i was to say the surest thing ever, it would be that florida guys are really professionals.

turns out the engine was misfiring and the coilpack had been damaged to heat. cost me $130, but it fixed the problem for good. damaged coilpack can lead to deterioration of spark plugs and wires too. try checking your coilpacks for wear.

CAI installed in April. Cleaned once every 2 weeks. Changed plugs today and old ones were a light tan/cream color. Its not sputtering, new fuel filter took care of that. It just takes off at 3,500-4,000 rpm and runs awesome. Also at idle to 2,000 rpm it runs great. Its just at 2,000-3,500 rpm it bogs down but then takes off and operates normal for the higher rpm's. Just put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in today and ran it for one hour.

UPDATE: I don't know why i never checked it before, but I have the Dae Sung TPS. Pretty sure that is what's causing the problem. If anyone has a spare PM me with a price. Dealer won't replace it and want like $50 + labor. Thanks.
