I got new wires and the NGK plugs are in.

Here is the problem... after getting home from work I was able to spend time figuring out what was happening. I was late for work and unable to spend time on the problem. Here it is...

When driving the car, it has a slight jerk going from 1st gear to 2nd. Going from 2nd gear to 3rd is when it buckles down and jerks the car. The engine didn't shut down the first time, I just thought it did because the car stopped so suddenly, the loud noise, and the way the car jerked. Why is it having problems shifting? Is my transmission dying?

Maybe it's your coils now? Maybe it ran on bad wires for awhile and burnt up a coil?

You cannot catch a break, can you? Gonna replace with another auto or go with a stick?

I would have gotten a manual had I been able to expect this and be prepared... but hopefully warranty is gonna cover it. If not, I may be paying the little extra for the manual... I'm hoping for the warranty though :-/

I went through the exact same thing. I am now having similar issues (just starting again here and there) with the "factory reconditioned" tranny that set me back 3000 including labor that is less than two years old. Knowing what I do now, I would have found a way to have it taken care of elsewhere and had a manual tranny put in.

well..........

I called the dealership Monday and they said, "yeah, car's ready... good news, it wasn't the tranny... the Throttle Positioning Sensor was bad so we replaced it and it's fine now. It thought it was running @ 800RPM whether you were idling or going 30MPH"

when they told me that, it sounded like that could have definitely been the problem.

so I go to pick the car up.... tell him thanks... look at the new awesome color of the Tidal Wave Blue Tiburons... then go to leave. I get out of the parking lot... and I'm thinking "this doesn't feel right..." I get out of the parking lot... go half a mile and WHAM! the problem returns! It just jerked really hard so I pulled a 'U-ey' and said, "hey, somebody come ride with me, the problem is still there and I want you to see what's happening." So the service manager got in and I drove down the road.

Well... this time I actually realized what the hell is happening. Between 1st and 2nd gear, there is a slight jerk of the transmission... between 2nd and 3rd gear... it pretty much felt like it shut down on me... what was happening is it was down-shifting, and maybe a slight touch of the brake is what made it feel like the brakes were locking up and stopping SO fast.

He said, "Yeah, that seems like a problem with the tranny.." Well dipsh!t... that's what I told you when I brought it here! They're gonna look at it again and see if they can realize what's going on. The district manager was there today so he was supposed to look at it closely and determine which route to take on replacing it under warranty (entirely new tranny or just a part). He's supposed to call me tomorrow and tell me what the hell is up with my car. :x At least the guy is nice and working with me... not a jerkass like the other dealers... and he's a tuner friendly dealer... so that's a good thing. I had mentioned not being able to come pick up my car right away because my girlfriend's in the hospital and I couldn't get a ride... and he remember it a week later when we were on the phone (today) and said he hopes my girlfriend is getting better. At least he's a nice guy and working with me on the problem.

Maybe the new TPS they put on was bad... or maybe there's a bigger problem... :?

Yeah, now that you put it that way, that has happened to me a couple of time. It feels like you were in fourth and threw it into first....have jerk foward and slight screech from the brakes. I can't remember if that was on tranny one or two though?? Let me know what happens!!!!
