alright so it seems that the beta1 engine runs rich stock but mine seems a lil too rich. My friend was behind me said that im shooting black smoke upon hard acceleration, also today when i started my car after it had sat for 9 hours it made a loud hard backfire.

and im only getting about 290 miles out of a tank of gas, about 60% of my driving is on the interstate

ive worked on toyotas and nissans a lot in the past but dont know much about hyundai in relation to ignition components, and what to stay away from.

for example bosch anything on a toyota normally will perform worse than oem, but ngk, or denso is the best ignition componets to use.

basicly what wiresets would be best suited for the beta1 along with sparkplugs?

ngk, wells, bosch, etc?

The general consensus is to stick with NGK products. Bosch don't seem to perform as well on our cars.

and start with the basics.. sounds like your car needs a tune up. Plugs, wires, and filters.

NGK's are nice wires, but I suggest the PRD ones we just had the GB one. WOW!

I'd suggest NGK v power copper plugs. They are cheap and will perform very well!

If you have black smoke coming out, I'd think that there is more than just too much fuel. Check if your car is eating any oil, check compression, all filters, run something to clean your injectors.

I've had no problems with Bosch in the past. I've also had no problems with NGKs either. NGKs in my Mom's Subaru were decent condition after 80,000 miles. hail.gif
