Do flex pipes make a sound diffirence?

Do flex pipes make a sound diffirence?
I had a new flex pipe welded in and it doesnt seem as loud as it use to be anymore? Just curious, is there any way a new flex pipe could make a difference to the sound of a header? I didnt think it would or should but maybe Im wrong?
