will wiping down with alcohol prevent fingerprints?

You should use a degreaser to remove the oils. A lot of the "orange cleaners" work. I would recommend one of those.

I got a header from shark racing and the first turned gold then turned a purplish blue then as the header goes down to the exaust they go from the purplish blue to gold then to the regular crome which I think looks better then just plain old crome.

There's only two things you can do that really matter here:

1. send them off for Ceramic coating (choose a color, or a nice silver)

2. leave em be

If you leave em, that only really brings up one point, and that is to either polish them after you've installed em, or to deal with the prints left on em. If you're like me, its almost unavoidable to leave marks on them, as they're on and off the car all the time. If you are the guy who installs a part once, and it stays perfectly in place for years to come, then lucky you, and make sure to do a good job polishing wink1.gif
