^^ that's a code. It's not a fault. It's supporting another code which is the actual fault. You can look up the code and see for yourself. There's no troubleshooting for that code because it's not an actual fault. It's a supporting code to give a technician a place to start.

An injector misfire code is a fault, not a supporting code.

It does not suggest the spark plug wires

QUOTE (Supercow @ Mar 15 2008, 12:06 AM)
how long since plugs and wires? If it's been more than 30k do that first. Get some electrical connector cleaner and clean up the inside of the coil packs as well if there is any corrosion in there.

dtns been smoking something. It's definently possible to have a fault on only one cylinder, I have before, why else would it even bother telling you the cylinder if it had no way of knowing. Might as well just start poping up codes for "stuffs screwed up".

You most likely had a random misfire code if it were part of the ignition. You can however have a misfire code on a single cylindar with no other codes if you have a problem with an injector. There is no sensing available for a single electrical misfire on our schematics or in the functional descriptions of our vehicles.

Basically, that code will always have another code with it which is the actual fault. That code is not a fault on it's own, it's a supporting code which accompanies the fault code. That's one of those codes that you check with OBD and find a bunch of codes

im using a basic obd2 scan tool. not sure exactly what kind but its not a hyundai one... (universal) i cant remember the code it was giving me. i meant to write it down but it didnt come back up again. it takes a bit to come back on after i erase it. the problem started with moisture. i washed my engine bay before i brough it to my shop and then drove it for a bit and let it sit over night and then i had water in my spark plugs. i unplugged them and then i let it air dry over night. plugged em back in and put the cover back on then code came on after about 30 seconds of run time.... rough idle and bad acceleration. and i could deffinately hear the misfire. if i can get the code to come on tomorrow i will let ya know the number its giving me. but if my list of changes is a good idea and will more than likely fix the problem then i will do it.. i dont mind changin it all out just to have everything new and upgraded! but let me know ur opinions to this point! thanks! fing02.gif

DTN, your a smart guy sometimes, but other times you make me wonder....

Go find a old sparkplug boot, cut it up a bit, and also maybe gap a sparkplug to say 5mm, than let me know what happens.

Injectors?

Are you guys crazy?

If it's a MISFIRE, first do your plugs and wires. Why? You've done 20K Kilometers since YOU bought the car, without doing them. WHO KNOWS how long the original owner went without doing them. How many miles are on the car now?

Pull your plugs, and look at them. Compare them to charts you can find on the web of what they SHOULD look like. Replace them, making sure they are gapped correctly. Replace your wires.

There's a reason this is all standard stuff to do 30 to 40 K miles, they DO wear out.

Also, go run some B12 Chemtool through your fuel system.

i had this same problem and after i did plugs and wires i just replaced my coil and everything was fine. i would suggest the same to you man.

if you really think its injectors then just take everything apart and put it back together agin, then run sea foam. after that if you still get misfire, i would ohm test the injectors followed by flow test if you needed something further.

If you are set on the injectors go to a shop and get a fuel system cleaning done. Seafoam and that wont do what the professional cleaning can. And it will clean out the intake and everything very nice.

Plugs and wires. And fuel filter just because Im sure it hasnt been done.

Do NOT go buy new injectors. If anything get a professional cleaning done on them. No sense in getting new ones at all.
