Default coolant smell

I've got a pretty weird problem here! I have installed the 2 column Evolution 8 all-aluminum radiator. There are NO coolant leaks and no spots on the driveway. The waterpump and timing belts have just been replaced because I thought they might make the problem go away, but no such luck.

I'm getting this coolant smell everytime I use my car. When I put the normal warm air, or air conditioning on, the smell goes inside the cabin. It's even worse everytime outside of the car after being driven.

What is this?!

Sounds like a pinhole leak in your heater core, or possibly a very small leak in the hose going into the heater core.

since the heater core is next to the glovebox, the leak has to be one of the hoses in deep the engine bay going into the firewall?

weird that i don't have this problem with the Elantra at all.

by the way, my heater fan inside was making a flicking noise a while back.

I would suspect either right where the hose goes into the heater core at the firewall or a hole in the heater core itself.

I've had to replace several heater cores in different vehicles for leaking. My Blazer was the worst, it blew the heater core 3 times and fixing it was 10 hours of shop time.
