not really,... collecting ALOT of HOT air actually. You might as well wrap that intake tube AROUND the engine.

I would put the filter behind the battery, or if you can fit it, in FRONT of the battery. In that location, it's sucking in hot air from the radiator/exhaust, plus the pipe itself is getting baked by the heat from the radiator/exhaust.
