Ok, So, even AFTER I gave the guy at Southbend clutches the Make model and Year, Hyundai Tiburon FX 1999 AND..... gave him the exact day my car was produced, Dec 11th, 1998, they still managed to send me the WRONG FRIGGIN' PARTS!!!

I am so pissed off right now! My car is now at my mechanics shop with the tranny torn out and they cant put the parts in because they have the wrong parts.

Maybe this should be in Gripes and Complaints, so sorry for posting here. I do have a few questions of relevance, so please forgive me Moderators.

So, what I need are part numbers that will be the correct part numbers for my car. that way when I call Southbend clutch, I can double check there numbers and make sure that the new parts they send out to me are the correct parts.

Here is the Info I need from somebody:

I ordered a Fidenza Flywheel, so I'll need a part number for that. They sent me the HY-5, which I believe is for a V6 Tiburon. I think I need the HY-2. I need it for an RD1, Year and production date are stated above.

I also need someone who has ordered and successfully installed A southbend clutch and if they know what their part number was to post it as well. Even if its not the same clutch as I am getting, as long as its a southbend clutch that went into an RD1 that has the 2.0L, they should be able cross reference there own part numbers.

Thanks in advace for those of you who can help me out. fing02.gif fing02.gif fing02.gif

there are two different flywheels for the rd's. seems like most companies dont know that, hence why its been covered so much on here, and other hyundai forums. pre July 8, 1999, the center pilot hole on the fidanza reduced from 41 mm to 35 mm, because the cranks themselves changed. is that what your problem is?

as the clutch goes, i just ordered the TZ right off there site. even though they dont have a listing for my 2nd gen, all the beta clutch's are the same, so i ordered one for the 1.8 and its worked great. after all my other clutch failures, this is the 1st one to actually work.

Thank you!!!!! Awsome!

Ok, so the part numbers will work, but in my investigating, I found something very interesting. Fidanza's site lists all the flywheels they have for Hyundai's. Here they are:

Elantra 96-7/99 2.0L 41 mm crank 193241 7.5 228501
Elantra 7/99-04 2.0L 35 mm crank 193141 7.5 228501
Tiburon 99-03 2.7L ............. 193361 9.5 8 229001
Tiburon 03-05 2.7L .................193461 9.5 8 229001
Tiburon 96-7/99 2.0L 41 mm crank 193241 7.5 228501
Tiburon 7/99-04 2.0L 35 mm crank 193141 7.5 228501

Can you catch it?!?!?

Tiburon 99-03 2.7L ............. 193361 9.5 8 229001

Is there anything wrong with this part?!?!? I had no idea that the 2nd gens were secretly caring a 2.7 liter under the bonnet!!! OR the fact that the 2nd gens ran all the way to 2003!!! I am going to call Fidanza and try to get to the bottom of this and see if they will get this changed. I am sure this is why I recieved the wrong clutch and flywheel from Southbend. Wasnt exactly their fault either.

they know about it, it's a typo, they base their items off the actual date the vehicle was manufactured, some 2003 model tiburons were manufactured in 2002 .......... the hy3 flywheel is rarely used, I think I've actually sold 2 Hy3 flywheels that actually fit, most V6 tiburons use the Hy5.

In any case if you have an Hy5 then it's wrong.

If you call their support line they can resolve the issue. Fidanza is really good at tech support.
