Default cluch is stiff now its not.. PEDAL that is

i recently bought a 2001 tib and i was driving the other day and the cluch pearkOrange">dal sorta gave out. for the first month and half ive had it it was nice adn firm and only needing about 1/4 of the pearkOrange">dal for normal operation. i was driving one day and isuddenly it became "loose" not as defined in catch point. i took the car to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong with it. i bought it with 26711 and now has 30500 on it (its a bit of a drive to work and gf's appartment)but this is a noticable change for someone who drives the car every day. other people have driven it and said it was fine. i though it was the cluch but i have not been able to really test to see if there is slippage up hill in high rpms..most driving is city. it was all of a sudden as well not a progressive thing so that leads me to belive its not the cluch. and the dealer said it wasnt (who trusts them anyhow).
if anyone could shead some light on this or tell me its normal ill appreacte it.

ps. reading some other posts you guys are a good group of people remind me of my old honda message board i belonged to...

Try adjusting the clutch, tells ya how in the manual that should have came with your car. If not, go pick one up from the dealer.

You could try bleeding the clutch or adjusting the clutch engage. Check out www.hmaservice.com/webtech

I'm confused, you mean you only had to push it down 1/4 of the way?? if so then it wasn't properly adjusted in the first place. the clutch pedal all the way down should always be disengaged, then ~1/4-1/2 of the way up the clutch engages and of course all the way up is normal for driving. a improperly blead clutch can actually make a clutch feel like a break, not engage, or not disengaged at all. this isn't your first manual is it?

actually Super.. mine is the same way.. in day to day shifting from gear to gear (not from a stand still) I only need a quick "Stab" at the pedal to shift.. MAYBE at the most, half it's travel.

A properly adjusted clutch only needs to go down 1/4 - 1/2 the way.... if you need to go all the way down then you need to readjust your clutch Super. LOL smile.gif

Is your car still covered under warranty? If so, take it to another dealer..if there's another one near you for a second opinion..you never know with certain dealerships..

ok i should be more specific. this was not a gradual thing. it was more of a now im fine now its not. no i have not had a chance to take it to another dealer but i would think if there was a slightest problem they would have wanted to make the money. maybe mushy isnt the best way to describe the pedal its more like mad machine, it was "snappy" now its not...i was looking in the owners guide and it does not say anything on how to ajust the cluch just the specs. i looked on on the webtech site, could somone post the link on where they found the ajustment for it. there is really not cluch cable so to speak form visual inspection on the pedal linkage . the car IS covered under warranty thats why i took it to the dealership for them to look at it. so people say because its now cold where i live but i whent on a road trip to indanapolis over christmas and it was very very cold there all the time 10 or below at night and 20 if your lucky during the day. and it was fine. i welcome anyone elses suggestions, and i will look for hte cluch ajustment page as well... i just want the sports car feel back again.. that acceleration is not dimmished as much but it seems like when im at the higher RPMs 4 and above that i get better response out of it but shifting below that its not as crisp...yes this is my first standard car but i did not start driving it everyday till after 2 weeks of having it and having someone who knew how to drive one in the car.

Clutchwork won't be covered under warranty at this stage anyway unless you have a GK. Clutch is 2yr/12000 mile. Its in my manual... basically your adjusting the play in the clutch. Tomorrow if I remember I'll get my manual outta my car and type it out for you.
