Default Cleaning air filter

I'm cleaning out my air filter this weekend and was wondering about any tricks/traps?

I have the Ractive heat shield filter and the K&N cleaning kit. It seems pretty straight forward, but I'd hate to ruin it becasue I wasn't careful.

also, how long does it take to dry after the initial washing?

Thanks,
a

They recommend you let it "naturally" dry. I left mine to dry in front of a low fan overnight...and oiled and installed it in the morning.

If you are in a REAL hurry, Hook your air filter once semi-dry to a vaccum cleaner and as much hose as the Vaccume can muster. (keeps the water out of the vaccum cleaner. Just let it run for about 2 hours sucking the air throught the non-oiled filter.

If you can "reverse" your vaccume cleaner, it is better to blow the air through the air filter to dry it. Less chance of ruining your vaccume cleaner.
