has anyone done it.... thats the only fluid i know nothing about in a vehicle. i was wondering if it is something i should take in to get done or if i can try it myself!?

 

empty fluid. (on drivers side of trans, big bolt, dont remember size)

add 2.25 quarts of new fluid. (fill bolt is in front of trans 17mm i believe)

 

It's easy to do, do it yourself.

Use the search function, many threads here about it, use the wrong fluid, and say bye bye tranny.

 

i tried the search and couldnt find anything. heres the situation tho...when i was doing my suspension i was workin on the passanger side front coilover and when i turned the wheel it felt like the axle popped out or something and fluid went everywhere. it came from the tranny i think. but i pushed the axle back in and it stopped draining and everything seemed fine then. is there a way i can check to see if im low on it or to see what the hell went on there???

 

Have the car parked on a level surface and take off the tranny fill bolt fill it until gear oil comes out of the bottom of the female theads of the fill bolt (the hole) and that is how much should be in there... if you think it is low then take the bolt off again and see if lube drips out... if not fill it until it does.

 

Checking your tranny fluid level, which for SURE spilled some out if you popped an axle even part way out of the seal, is covered in your owners manual. You take off the fill plug/bolt, and the fluid should be level with the bottom of the threads. If it's not, you are low.

I know for a fact we've covered tranny fluid before.

Any of the clutch installs/tranny diy's should have it covered in there too.
