Cel Question
I've been told by "helpful" people to AAA my car to a Hyundai dealer to have the code(s) read. I responded that I have had NO CEL so there'd be no code to read.
Is this correct?
BTW, the same guy told me to go buy a new ECU because he "knows" that's my problem. This is even AFTER I told him I had good compression in #3 & 4 and BAD compression in #1 & 2.

Take it to Autozone, they'll check the codes for free. Dealership will charge $80. Who are these 'helpful' people trying to rip you off?
No CEL should mean no code... unless the bulb is burned out.
Why do you think there is a code? Why tow instead of drive, what's wrong with it?
If you post a detail explanation of what's wrong with it and what you've done to it recently (cleaned engine, installed parts, etc.) we may be your best resource for finding the problem.

Sorry, it does not run. I have a thread in this forum on what I've done so far. I had a few different threads for different issues but it needed to be merged into one. I belive it's the 4th ot 5th down.
WoW - you have a crap load of topics. Reverse lights, engine/trans swaps, fuel pump, crank position sensor, coolant temp sensor, belt covers...
You have all these problems, and no CEL? And the car isn't running? Can you turn the engine over?

PM sent RED ZMAN, thanks.
To the others, thanks for the inquiries but I don't want to start a new thread again. I have that other loooong one. I was just wondering about the CEL.
Feel free to add your input in my other thread though. squareeyed.gif

DTN is right completely. i don't think the computer would be the problem. you probably have some stored codes. they won't show up on the light but they'll stay there until the last drive cycles are completed.
in human language, it's basically drive cycles usually take 2 straight weeks of driving or a few sets of miles on a problem free car before they're fully erased.
i tell everyone, to check using a scantool and laptop. it is helpful.
