This is pretty much a continuation of the problem here but it's reached a whole new level of sucking.

steps to get really really really mad at your tib - As performed by Nathan in chronological order
1. oem clutch started slipping, well I was running 10-11 psi so thats to be expected.
2. swap to act clutch/pressure plate and flywheel from gripforce and it's still slipping. Ran like this for ~2-3k just never getting over 4k rpms or so.
3. replaced the clutch master cylinder with one from autozone (Luk brand... thinking it's bad Luk now) and take off down the road. I get out on a road near the house and punch it a few times. Seems to be holding great!! (before it would slip if I boosted a couple times) I stop at a light and take off, I hit the clutch pretty hard and then it shifted into second but it was pretty hard to get in gear. Then I couldn't get it into third.
4. Baby it home in 2nd gear thinking all I need is to bleed it again. well that didn't work.
5. replaced the slave cylinder - same
6. replace the master cylinder again - same
7. replace the nice bse clutch line from stauf with stock - same
Though all of this I'm using syn power dot 4 synthetic brake fluid. There are no leaks, and I blead it using a mityvac.
I have two ideas as to the problem:
most likely: the "Luk" master cylinder just plain sucks and can't handle the act pressure plate
least likely: something is seriously wrong inside the bell housing like a bent/worn fork. I think this is less likely because of the miles I used the car previous to the problems. plus It obviously still drives and doesn't make weird noises.
What do you think?

Ok, real simple guess here, worth trying
I had a problem where i had to really force my gear shift into gear which usually involved some grinding, even in first when completely stopped.
turns out i had to adjust the clutch pedal as it was slightly engaged even fully depressed, now its like butter.
my clutch didnt slip tho, but its worth a try for you.

explain please, I'm confused as to what you mean. I adjusted it so that it has the 1/2 inch of free play. When I first installed it there was about and full inch.

Im saying that my clutch pedal needed adjustment, with the clutch pushed all the way to the floor the clutch was still engaged a tiny amount, just enough to spin the tranny a small amount, not enough to move the car if in gear but when i was in neutral it was enough to spin the tranny, just a bit, which is why the car didn't want to go into gear, unless i forced it which usually was accompanied with a little grind, not good.
In other words the clutch would fully engage just off the floor, i adjusted it to move the engage point further out and it goes into gear easily now.

hum... I might have to try adjusting it a bit more. did you have to extend the adjustment rod just about all the way out?
edit: Right now I've just about decided something going on with the clutch/pp. So any other ideas are welcome!

ouch.... not to bring up bad things, but just before my clutch blew up and sliced a hole in my bell housing, it was super hard to shift into any gear with the car being at anything over like 1500rpm.
it started off a couple days before it blew up with hard shifting into higher gears. then it started getting worse.. i replaced my needed axle seals, put in new trans fluid, bled clutch, etc.
then after that i drove around (or tried to) and i couldn't get above second gear, while having hard shifts each time.. by time i turned around to try and get home, BOOM grinding noise, car stalls. get out, look at bell housing.. one of my pucks sliced 12" around my bell housing and got stuck.. lmao.gif
hopefully this isn't your issue.. but it couldn't have been a bent fork on mine, cuz i re used it in my beta II transmission with no problems. it sounds like your experiencing the same mechanical issue i was having though.

Can you get the car in all gears with the engine off and clutch disengaged? If so, then it could be a bent fork or pushrod. Otherwise, check to see if the bracket the pedal mounts to under the dash has broken. I've run into that a few times with customers' cars who have had me install heavy duty pressure plates in FWD cars. The thin sheetmetal under the dash just isn't designed for it.

its not adjustments or any issues with the pedal... The plan is to tear it apart again tomorrow night. I'll post pictures of what we find. mad.gif
