I have a question....I had the GT cams installed un my 2001 tibby, and I like them, they did make an obvious differnce to me, anyway....on to the question......now my car idles kinda like a rod, and will turn off on me at times, and I have exhaust like uncle buck....well, maybe not that bad, but it does leave a lil stench and there is some smoke coing out, cuase its starting to stain the bumper a lil....what can be casing ths, I also had a custom CAI put in the week before....is this too much mod too quick for this poor lil tibby or what?....any help will be greatly appreciated! sad.gif

It sounds like something is wrong there.
The cam and CAI should not have caused these kinds of problems.
Who installed the cam for you?
Who's CAI did you install? Did you make sure to install the IAT sensor in the air stream in the CAI?
Detach the negative battery cable. Leave it off about 15 mintues. Then re attach it. The ECU should quickly adjust for the new CAI and cam.
If you are still having problems, let us know.

id get that checked very soon niether of those two mods should cause that problem.if the smell is of burning oil and thier is no visible spills in the engine from the cam fit id get it checked before it gets terminal.
are you sure it's oil and not too much gas? Yes the car will idle a tad rougher but with out headders it shouldn't sound like a rod ( mine does tho :-) . check the pcv for oil, I noticed some extra oil burning but thats cause I fried my valves on juice, just a cam and CAI shouldn't do it. Did they put the cam in right? if they put it in 1 tooth too long or short on the chain you will be eating valves and cause this.
Well, if they're only ONE tooth off it doesn't eat valves. The valve timing isn't that tight stock, you can advance 1 or retard 2 teeth without doing any damage (except your power will suck ass)
I noticed that the GT intake cam dropped my intake vacuum by about 3-4 inches of mercury, which is enough to make it stumble a bit at idle. I don't know why it does this, the cam isn't THAT aggressive.
It shouldnt' smell bad either way tho, so you may still wanna have it checked out. If the cam is off 1 or 2 teeth, you will get a LOT of noise at WOT but not a lot of power.
