cam shaft / cam gear questions
ok I was interested in buying the " 240 degree" cam shaft from HDK, but I heard they did nothing....anyone own one, or know if thats true?......SECOND question.....anyone own the SR GT cams?, I was interested in those, but curious how much power they give out, any noticeable changes.......OK Next...what about the HDK cam Gears, I want to do both things at once, anyone own those? or know how well they work, or how ,much HP's they give?....FINALLY (takes a deep breath) ....what other mods must be done when changing the cam shaft and gears, I heard the springs had to be changed, is that true, what else needs to be changed?...Ok, any info will be greatly appreciated....THANKS!!!!

I'll tackle this one backwards.
Valve springs only need to be replaced if your are significantly altering the valve train. (Lift or duration, or a both)
240 degree cams or the intake cam from the Elantra GT is NOT significant enough to require new springs.
I do not know anyone that has dyno's the HDK cams, so I can give you no advice there. Just simply stating they are 240 degree duration is not enough information to base a HP opinion on. We need to know lift, and intake and exhaust open/close to guestimate any gains, and it would still only be a guestimate, as the gains would be dependant on your other mods.
If you are refering to these
They do NOT work on the Beta motor. The beta motor only has one "belt" driven sprocket like they show. This means that you can only adjust the Exhaust cam and intake cam together. Since the intake cam usually likes to be advanced, and the exhuast cam retarded...that can not be accomplished with the beta motor, unless you replace the intake cam with one that has and adjustable chain sproket. That is and even bigger PITA, because you must remove the valve cover to adjust the chain sprocket... In general...unless you want to be a "guinna pig", and spend at least 2 or 3 hours on dyno tunning them...don't bother wasting your money. Even if you did, on an N/A motor, the MOST you could concievable get from just the adjustable sprokets is about 10 Wheel HP. In reality, most only show a 2-6 Wheel HP gain.

Hey Randon, I really appreciate your input and ingormation, I guess I will hold up on those cam gears, I have already ordered GT cam shaft, so hopefully, that will help. What other mods do you reccomend for performance gains, other than the exhaust, and intake, actually Ionly have the cone filter attached to the stock base, I just remved the air filter box. Where can I get a cold air, from, and what other mods do you reccomend.....any help will be greatly appreciated.......THANKS!
