So I was talking to my uncles on Easter this weekend, and I told them how I put a new cam in my car. They then asked me if I put new bearings in, and I didn't even know you were supposed to, but then they explained it to me, and it made perfect sense. Is this a boo boo? I've never heard anyone say anything about it in the cam installs/DIY's.

alot of car's dont use bearings on the cam's actually. i know my mazda's are this way. ive never pulled a beta apart yet, but id assume since ive never seen bearing's mentioned, that the tibby is the same way.

There are no "bearings" persay.. just a highly machined guide that acts as the bearing on the cam. As long as you used either assembly lube (I recommend) or a lot of oil over the bearing surfaces on the cam, you should not have to worry about it. I put 60,000 miles on my 1.8 cam after I put it in at 70,000 miles
Cams only spin at 1/4 the crank speed
