California Emissions Adding Header?
Alright guys, as christmas rolls around i'll be fixing my siezed rear driver's side caliper and investing and doing reaseard about headers. I want a full exhaust system, but I have cali emissions. (Two Cats). The manifold and first cat are one piece and bolt up to the flex pipe. I've been looking at these ssautochrome header since i found a DIY on installing it. It read that is has two O2 bungs on it, anyone want to confirm that? My main question is If i were to shead the 225 to get it, would it bolt up to the stock flex pipe for the time being? Also, would it trip a CE since the first cat is getting removed and theres an O2 right after it. I mainly dont want a CE, I can wait before I install it and get the full exhaust if it wont bolt up to the stock flex pipe. From what I searched, I might have to re-locate the 2nd O2 behind the 2nd Cat. I hate cali emissions.......
Thanks guys!

Both of my o2 sensors are pre-cat with my header and I don't have a cel. We don't have sniffer tests in Indiana so i don't know if it will pass emissions or not with one cat, but it should?
No I don't have emissions testing. So I would have to extend the O2. What would be the best way to extend it cut and solder wires? I was really hoping I wouldnt have too. Dam. Well one more question, Today at the junkyard I found a 96 elantra with what looks like a 4-2-1 header, and it's a 1.8. (Automatic too, if that affects anything. Mines 5 Speed) Could I swap ECU's and grab that header and not have to relocate the O2? It made me think though, Cali emissions has anothe O2 that the Fed emission doesnt have, would that affect the ECU swap since it would, maybe, have a different harness?

The only way to do it is to relocate the 2nd sensor to post catalytic converter.
Your CEL light is burned out or you have a sensor fooler installed.

Nah my CEL works fine, it comes on when i unplug my O2 sensors. And i do not have an O2 simulator. My upstream is sensor is about 4 inches away from the secondary with no cat between them and I don't have a catalyst efficiency code, and its been like this for more than a year.

You've got something else going on. The 2nd o2 sensor is there to monitor the catalytic converter efficiency. If you poke a hole in your catalytic converter it will throw a catalytic converter reduced efficiency code. The only way you can install a header without a sensor simulator, a sensor extender, or relocating the sensor is to leave it open to air. The whole point of the 2nd o2 sensor is to throw a code if your catalytic converter is not there.
Are the O2 simulators any good? As far as just fooling the ECU to seening the cat there is ok by me, but I wouldnt want to trick the ECU on its fuel mixtures.
I found a link to a header DIY, but the pictures seem not to work...All i get are spaces. They work for anyone else?

It would be a good idea to get a o2 sensor bung installed after the catalytic converter with a plug the day before you install the header.
