do you have to buy the by pass valve for the cai

No. Think of the bypass valve as more of a security thing. If it rains a lot where you live, you may want to invest in one. If rains once a month where you live, and it isn't much rain when it does, then you might not need one.

Like AfterShocK said, they are NOT required. In 99.999% of the time, you will never NEED it. Most people order them for one of 2 reasons.

#1. To claim they have one. (adds something else to the "modifications list"

#2. Engine Insurance. God forbid you do run the front end of your car into 12" or more of standing water....if you do, you will be GLAD you have the AEM Bypass. However...if you run the nose of your car into 12" of water....chances are, you got other problems! eek.gif
