DTN is wrong, as he often is. Chrome Intakes (a stupid copycat company on ebay), has made a poor copy of the AEM CAI, but in 2 pieces. You can do a search on the site for the retarded CAI thread that we closed last week with all the BS about the shitty "Chrome Intakes" intake.

I don't expect to see that one talked about much more, but knowing some folks here....

*sigh*.. We could go back and forth. Your position is AEM is a legit company. Mine is function for value.

I don't see the purpose in spending $150 on a $10 piece of metal.

BTW, would you really buy from a company that not only rips off other designs of legitimate companies?

If so, do you still feel safe buying from a company that can't use proper english in almost ANY of its sentences in their auction?

You aren't. $40 of it is on a quality filter.

The point is, we don't support or recommend RIPOFF PRODUCTS on this site. Recommend them elsewhere.

I've honestly had enough of your shit my man, so press your luck as much as you want bro.

^^ That auction you posted had a K&N air filter included and the auction was for $40.

I was not aware of the rule of knock-off products on this site. I also was not aware that there was any proof that they ripped off the design. There's really only 3 places the air filter can go.

I've installed a Injen knockoff, AEM, AEM knockoff and a Chrome Intakes in RDs for my buddies and myself. The Chrome Intakes is the easiest to install, Cheaper then others and is actualy a CAI, and it's adjustable so it won't hit the battery. And that's why I like Chrome Intakes.

please......... shut the f*** up already.

i have a Injen knock-off, it works fine for me. i removed the lower plastic covers so it feed air right to the filter (replaced with a K&N).

the filter i got was bigger so mine sits a little lower than the trani.

edit:

this is a quick fix to the hanging thing. take some big ass lock pliers and mash the two sides together(or just put a fastened bolt there like i have). take a rather long zip tie and zip it up as firm as you want it. and WALA

Well not to stir up any more comotion but I had one of the intakes from Chrome Intakes and I hated it. Maybe I got a bad one but 1. Didn't mount right 2. Didn't go anywhere near my wheel well, Sat under my battery. 3. Never answered any of my questions.

The only thing that I got good out of that transation was the K&N filter which now sits on this intake http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98-99-00...109079569QQrdZ1

DTN I guess you had alot better experience with Chrome Intakes than I did but I would NEVER suggest there product to anyone just because of the trouble I went through. Maybe I got an intake for the wrong car but the fact that they never answered any of my questions or concerns make me not like them even further

^^ you got a different one then I did. Mine places the filter in front of the tire. I don't know which one you got.

Yeah, I know which f***ing auction I posted it, I POSTED IT. There are several others for what, $15 shipped from them, with a shitty filter.

$15, I wonder if I'm getting a quality part here.

NOPE.

Now you are aware. We've had folks come in here offering a blatant ripoff of other folks designs the SAME DAY as the original design was shown. We've had folks come in here trying to sell ripoff bodykits in bulk. Note that they were never allowed to sell them. Yes, they ripped off the design you moron. Look at the intake, it's a AEM clone, that they had to have made in 2 seperate pieces because they were too cheap to pay for a one piece (yes, the bends on one piece get expensive because of tooling clearance). It's not "Adjustable", it's a shitty clone that has a coupler holding them together because they wouldn't front the money for the expensive bends.

You want cheap knockoff parts on your car, go for it. The quality of your work may not be seen by the judges at car shows or by your friends down the street, but the folks that count, YOUR PEERS, know about it, and will judge you on THAT.

My recommendation? Find the best of a part you want, then search till you find it for as cheap as possible. I got my AEM for $145, brand new, about 3 years ago.

Wow, like I said, it all shows in the quality of your car and character. Why does AEM not make wiring harnesses for us with their standalones? Oh, maybe because they can't sell enough of other parts to justify it, because some of you are CHEAP f***ERS. Laugh all you want, work on the business side for a few, and you'll see I'm right.

No LEGIT AEM, that I've ever seen (BTW, look at my member number, I may have seen 2 or 3 of these before), has ever touched a battery or battery tray. Your CABLE may touch it, if you don't adjust it, but if it hits the battery, you either didn't install it right, have a cheap clone intake, a battery bigger than your battery tray, or you are too stupid to adjust your cables/connectors so you don't get issues.

This is the last time I will hear about this intake bullshit. The last time DTN. You want to talk to folks about it, do it via IM or PM or refer them to your previous BS posts.

Folks want to know why it's so friggin hard to find parts for our cars sometimes, or why legit companies stop making them. I wonder if it's because some of you are so friggin cheap. You worry about voiding your warranty, but then you put $15 cheap ebay parts made in someone's garage on your car?
