last year when i pulled the motor and replaced the timing belt and resurfaced the flywheel, i noticed the oil pan had was leaking on the right side of the engine (firewall side) of the pan... so i stripped it down, cleaned it, and used rtv grey, as recommended.... well looks like its leaking again, but more profusely.... nothing severe, but its getting messy under there....
anyone ever use a gasket on the pan like these ones >>> ebay search 2000 tiburon oil pan gasket
ive never done a gasket and RTV, but would that be ok to do here?

I'd hate to use honda boys as a quoting source, but when the guys at project car magazine were rebuilding a vtec for turbo they suggested a thin layer of hondabond to each side of the gasket.
Also, not to doubt your abilities, but you did tighten the bolts in an opposing manner, right? (IE- similar to how you would tighten lug nuts)

I was brought up tuning 350s, so RTV was just part of the gasket process
Bead each side and slather than sandwich together.
I don't see what it could hurt, its basically just extra protection. Like nos4tu said, just make sure the pan is tightened properly.

I used all RTVs and gaskets available and still ended up with leaks and eventually broke bolts down there and ended up junking.. The moral of the story is that the car still will run. Trust me. Hot oil just runs up and down that dumb RTV and that is about it

thanks, well i used the "OIL PUMP REASSEMBLY" from hmaservice, as a guide. and i did use a criss cross pattern tightening up the bolts. i think somehow i went thin with the RTV somewhere and the oil found a way out...
thanks as well. i just wanted to make sure there were no known issues with fel pro gaskets and our engines....
i checked for vacuum leaks and inspected the PCV to make sure i had positive ventilation and pressure wasnt building up in the pan, and everything seems normal...
QUESTION, could this leak in the pan cause a decrease in intake manifold vacuum??
i seem to have a weird sipping leaking sound in lo RPM acceleration. but as soon as im in 3rd gear idling at a steady speed the sipping noise goes away... this "leak" or what i think is a leak is starting to annoy me... it just started happening a month ago...
