Sorry I'm a bit curious how you going to set up a front mount intercooler to cool the air going into the supercharger - airbox/filter to air to air intercooler then into supercharger ? How much boost to you plan to run ?



The only thing I plan or need to do is shield the intake/filter to stop the heat soak in the engine bay and probably get better radiator fans.

Im only going to run about 6-8 psi. Piping goes from SC outlet to IC the to TB. Filtration is before SC. In a previous post uou can see the SC pic. It is from a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C230 kompressor. Also I was wrong about the model it is an Eaton M45 not a M62.

I would think you'd want the SC attached directly to the plenum. Running it all the back to fmic seems like more possibility of heat soak than aid. If you really wanna cool the charged air either top mount, liquid or meth injection would be much better. Unless you're going to mount it in place of AC or some kind of alternative mount.

The way he wants to install the sc, its basically the same setup as MB "kompresssor" M111 engines. And im assuming that is going to run a regular pulley instead of the clutch type setup.





I remember 10-12 years ago in Puerto Rico, there was a guy running one of those s/c in his j2 elantra. He had the s/c mounted where the ps pump goes. He was a technician at the MB dealership.

Mine is a M45 producing 9.5 psi with no extra cooling atm but I would have been better off with a M62.

I guess the way you are mounting it is similar to a turbo as the extra heat from that set up will make [heat soak to the s/c and the normal heat generating from compressing the air through the rotors]

some use the Sc14 superchargers in that set up.

What programmable engine management ,injectors & fuel pump are you going to use ?

The SC is replacing the AC below the intake plenum. When installing a SC directly to an intake plenum there is really no way of cooling that air going directly into the intake (aside from some type of water/fluid injection.) This setup uses the same principle as a turbo set-up with an inter-cooler. I'm not going to concern myself to much right now with additional heat soak issues, as all piping is being shrouded or run into areas that are not in the engine bay, i.e. empty spaces behind bumper/ below front of fenders and between fender and frame. I just purchased a mega-squirt 3, but as of yet it has not been delivered to play with it. Injectors ..... I don't know yet. I have not made up my mind on the pump either. I have a tendency to adapt components from other vehicles to my Frankenstein projects. I really don't like to spend money on pre-fabbed components. So I will be doing more research on the injectors and pump before I do any installing.

ford thunderbird supercoupes run the supercharger away from the intake plenum.



the fact that this guy saw a "gain" with a intercooler and no forced induction should be enough to tell folks they shouldnt do this mod.
