Default Best Oil choice when burning oil

Does anyone know what kind of oil I should be using if Im burning about a quart of oil every 3000 miles? Ive never used synthetic but I was wondering if maybe I should switch to it to help with the burning situation. I have 160,000 miles on my tib and I have never had any problems with it other than the burning oil. I did a search and couldnt find anything about what oil I should be using.

This is normal oil consumption. Don't sweat it. Use a high-quality synthetic oil and an OEM or other good filter (read: never FRAM brand) and you'll be fine.

Not to thread jack, but what the problem with Fram?

I generally use Bosch but never heard Fram was a problem for Tibs. I know they have problems on some Germans pertaining to the gasket size

Low flow rate in fram makes the HLAs tick. It's bad for the engine.
